What it Feels Like to Be Safe

Experiencing calm, sleeping well, and having a basic sense that all is well, is not unobtainable. These are things we feel when have a state of safety. However, in a world of physical and psychological dangers, sometimes these experiences feel outside of our grasp.

Safety isn’t usually the word used when we talk about deeper life experiences. Safety is an unsexy term. We think of caution tape and roadside flares. We don’t associate safety with love, spiritual connectedness, or joy. Now those are sexy terms!

However, you can’t experience deeper aspects of yourself if you do not feel safe in your mind or body. Applying safety changes everything. It’s the gate to your inner temple.

Safety feels like:

  • An overall sense of wellbeing
  • An ability to be present
  • Calm
  • Centered
  • Peaceful
  • Fresh air running through your mind and body

Feeling safe first requires you to approach yourself differently. When you do, you are able to be in the moment. Being present then allows you to notice the signals. You can then ask, am I safe? When you can do this, you have the ability to make the best choices for yourself.
